Last week, we received an email that stopped us in our tracks. A local man, disabled, diabetic, and reliant on care, had found himself homeless and living in his car with his loyal 9-year-old dog during some of the worst weather imaginable.
His dog isn’t just a pet—it’s his best friend, his comfort, his reason to keep going. But the only help offered were hostels with strict no pet policies. This man, who had worked for years before becoming injured, needed help. So, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work.
Katie led the charge, finding short-term private shelter for them both. Meanwhile, Emma poured her heart into writing letters to councils, shelters, and MPs, pleading for support—not just for this man but for all pet owners facing the same heartbreaking situation.
Sadly, many didn’t even respond. But one MP in Wales, where this man had lived years ago, stepped up and is now working to secure proper accommodation for both him and his dog.
