if you have one of our rescues and you have a pic of them looking patriotic please can you post it below.
A Union Jack Bandana etc would be great.

Even if your dog isn't one of ours please feel free to post yours below too. But if they are a yrdr dog let us know so we can put them on our display. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

One year ago today Trixie went from her foster home with yrdr to a loving home in North Yorkshire...

Trixie's Mum Debbie has therefore decided that today will be Trixie's official birthday. Trixie was left at the local stray kennels when her owners said that they couldn't keep her any longer as they couldn't afford veterinary care for her.

Poor Trixie could not cope with kennel life and the staff asked us to take her in asap due to her stress. Sharon our fosterer quickly stepped in and offered her home and care and immediately fell in love with this old girl, who loved everyone and every dog she met. Now living a rural life full of love and attention....

Happy Birthday Trixie. πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

It is time for us to offically introduce you to Cookie.πŸ’–

Dear Diary,
It's day 7 of being in this strange new house and I can't decide if I like the weird lady who lives here with me. On the one paw, she keeps putting yucky stuff in my eyes and ears and forcing me outside to go for walks but on the other, she gives me tummy rubs, little head kisses and tells me I'm beautiful. I try to be mad because of the medicine but my silly tail gives me away. I'm still very tired and sleeping most of the day (sounding like a cross between a lawnmower and a foghorn apparently) but that's ok because I have several beds to choose from.

In my old place I wasn't given the care I needed so I got a bit poorly. I spent an hour being prodded by the V-E-T. Personally I thought I was a good girl because I only growled at her once. She said I need lots of TLC which is why we left with a big bag of medicines. She also said I am too chonky - how rude! Something must be working though because I can see better now my eyes have stopped oozing and my ears are less clogged so I can hear when my dinner is being prepared. I do a tippy tippy dance which makes that lady laugh. In fact, I can hear the dish rattling now. I'll catch up with you again soon.

Lots of love, Cookie. Xoxo

P.s. Don't worry, I get the lady back when she makes me go walkies be moving reeeaaaaaaally slowly. It drives her mad.

Cookie, what a good girl to only growl once at the V.E.T. But dont worry too much, you won't have to put up with that horrible stuff being put into your eyes as they will soon be better. Once the weather is nicer and the sun is shining you might decide you like going "walkies" and may speed up your little legs. That weird lady who lives with you loves you very much and you are so lucky to have a choice of beds. You take care Cookie and take your meds. They are for your own good. xxxxx

Sending love ❀️

FOSTER CARERS URGENTLY NEEDED
PLEASE CAN WE HAVE A BIG SHARE ON THIS POST

We are so urgently in need of foster carers.
Please please do not offer to foster for us if you are not serious. Fostering is bloody hard work. Yes we know that. But it is also one of the most rewarding things you can do.
We know that not everyone can foster but we only need a few good ones to make a real difference.

We urgently need foster homes who will take dogs who may need further training. These dogs need people who have the time and experience to continue their training. Unfortunately this is the Holy Grail of foster carers. πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

The amount of dogs needing rescue space at the minute far out weighs the spaces we have (Yes many of them are lockdown dogs ). Every single day we are being asked to help dogs that to be quite honest are going to need a fair bit of work putting into them. And we have to turn them away as we just have no where to put them.
We are a foster based rescue. Which means we need people to foster our dogs in their own home.

We are mainly getting asked to take dogs 9 months to 2 years old. Most of which have had very little training. The plight of the 'Lockdown Dog' is very real. Finding a foster home for dogs like these is almost impossible.

Most of the dogs we get in are unknown around dogs' cats and kids so will not be placed with them until fully assessed in a foster home.

Perhaps you think you could help?????
Maybe you are looking even to adopt a dog and would be willing to foster with a view to adopt.
If you live in or near West Yorkshire then please get in touch with us. We are based in Bradford.

You can find out more info in our Q&A section here-

You can apply to foster here-

NELLIE IS NOW READY TO FIND HER FOREVER HOME
PLEASE SHARE FOR HER

Nellie is a lurcher around 3 years old. She had a very bad start in life but in a short time has come on in leaps and bounds. She would be suited to easy going/quiet home as she gets a bit worried with loud noises due to her past but is the sweetest nature with people and has just started to play with toys etc she loves being in the garden.

Nellie can get a bit overwhelmed if dogs approach her but once she knows she's safe settles better. She eats well and she loves a routine and is pretty chilled after her walk if she realy likes you rolls her lips up smiling πŸ˜ƒ will need someone at home most of time till she's settled always wants to be with you and hates to be shut in a small space panics she's had the run of kitchen and utility etc and been fine not chewed anything and loves her bed .she has been left for the odd hour and was fine she just likes to be with you.

Will not be homed with cats or other small furries.

WE REALLY NEED TO MOVE WILBUR ASAP
PLEASE SHARE AND TAG ANYONE WHO MAY WANT TO ADOPT OR FOSTER LITTLE WILBUR

LOOK AT THOSE EARS
I'm called Wilbur and aged about 8 years old. I was found straying and no one came looking for me, so the rescue took me to a foster who loves me but works long hours and I like human company too much to be left on my own all day.

Wilbur (looks like a gsd with corgi legs) and we adopted him out about a year ago. The family are wanting Wilbur to come back into rescue as he is obsessed with the female owner to a point where he frets if she goes out and at times guards her if strangers come to the house. Good with the 11/12 yr boys but with a lot of activities that they attend means leaving Wilbur at home and he really needs someone around more of the time....

Wilbur needs to be the only dog in the home and no cats.

House trained non destructive. Does anyone know a potential owner or foster plz.

For more info or to apply for Wilbur please fill in a dog enquiry form here-

On Friday evening we received a call from a police officer who had attended an incident. This poor lurcher (we shall call Nellie) was found at the home.

Thank goodness for one of the kind hearted Police Officers who took the very nervous dog to the PDSA Kennels and told staff that he was about to call a rescue to help.

Our lovely newbie foster Denise went down to the PDSA to pick up this emaciated and scared girl and take her back to a warm cosy bed and lots of tlc....5 days later and Nellie now knows what love is, what fun can be had from playing with squeaky toys and best of all, good food, long walks and cuddling up to people who genuinely love her....

My last Lurcher was rescued from a camp and was in a terrible condition, starved, scared and riddled with worms. After a lot of love, patience and hard work on both our parts he became my best friend and such a loving and loyal companion. Sadly, he passed away over a year ago but I take comfort in the knowledge that he lived out the remainder of his years knowing love and comfort πŸ’•

thank you all xxxx

APPLICATIONS FOR THE PUPPIES ARE NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR INTEREST. PLEASE REMEMBER WE CANNOT REPLY TO ALL THE APPLICANTS INDIVIDUALLY.

Betty and her pups are doing so well.
The lovely Betty will be adopted by her foster parents Ed and Alison.
Now we know that we will get a lot of applications for these pups but we want to be specific on what we will need for them.
Bettys pups are at least half if not full patterdale. We have no way of knowig though who the dad is.

This means they will be very energetic and need lots of exercise and stimulation. Therefore we need people who will be around most of the time and very active. Ideally with terrier experience.

We do not rehome any dog with children under 5 years old. This is our charity policy regarding any dog we rehome please respect this.

Any other animals currently in your home must be able to cope with a puppy and all the chaos that brings. Also any other dogs in your home must be spayed/neutered.

We will have an adoption contract in place which will state that these pups must be spayed/neutered when our vets recommend it. This will be paid for by us. They will also be vaccinated. Betty has 2 girls and 2 boys. (Gus, Flash, Star and Kiki)

Please think hard before applying about if a puppy is for you. Often we find many people apply in the spur of the moment then reconsider. It is certainly not a 1st come 1st served thing so take your time.
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN UNTIL 10AM TOMORROW (MONDAY)

πŸ’œPlease be aware we will not be able to respond to all the applications and if you are not successful this is not a reflection on your suitabiliy.

How to apply-
Click on this link below. Read all our adoption terms and conditions then at the bottom of the page it will aak you to agree to them. Click on this. Then the application form will open up. Please fill in the application form fully. πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

These look like my puppy and he is 25% patterdale and 75% staffy. Mam staffy patterdale and dad full blue staff. πŸ’™ this was him as a tiny puppy

Anyone thinking of applying should think long and hard before they do. We recently fostered a puppy and it's bloody hard work!! 🐢

Daniella Gillespie

I would like to have Gus he looks lovely please

i hope they all go to lovely homes and i’m chuffed mum is also sorted…

Great post Enza xx

How much

I really hope you find perfect forever homes for those babies, just like you have for the mum. Must be so hard when it's puppies and people jump on the opportunity without always really knowing what it means to bring a dog into your family for up to 18years. I know I couldn't cope with a puppy.... Gimme an older dog to join my family any day πŸ˜‚. Xx

Awh cute Aaron Doull

They will all be found lovely homes just like they did with Mango's pupsπŸ™‚

Claire Emma Mort

So pleased Betty is staying put. She seems like a really lovely girl.

Hope they all find forever homes. Glad Betty is staying with her foster home, they must have made a lovely bond.

Laura Jane please let Jess know xx

Richard Potts x

Vickie Marshall not sure if you are looking for a pup xx

I do hope they find loving homes, and it’s wonderful that you have such strict and correct criteria for the new familes( sadly any idiot can buy a pup off the internet from a puppy farmer and they don’t check anything !) We have no space as we adopted a close family of 4 adult Westies in 2020.. Having had Westies since 1985 .. terrier experience is vital !

WENDY IS REHOMED
THANK YOU FOR SHARING

Meet the very cute & pretty Wendy an 11 month old Lurcher girl who was an unclaimed stray from the local pound. Wendy is a very loving and loyal dog who loves everyone she meets.

Wendy is house trained and very well behaved but struggles with separation anxiety when left alone. Extremely good with dogs when off of the lead but can be reactive whilst on the lead.

Our Trainer Theresa feels that this is something which she can sort and the rescue will provide training sessions with her. Wendy is fully vaccinated and microchipped and will be spayed at the beginning of June, which is in accordance with our Vet's advice.

Like most lurchers Wendy has a high prey drive especially around cats and small furries.

For more info or to apply for Wendy please fill in our dog enquiry form here-

Do research on patterdales seriously if you are thinking of adopting one. Ours is patterdale x Lakeland .. they bark a lot as they are terriers, they are stubborn, they are ratters so chase small furries (need super solid recall or they see a squirrel and they are gone! Also prone to chewing because of this too… ours gets lots of boxes etc to shred to avoid shredding the house) and they have a stronger than you’d think neck whip. Ours needs at least 2 decent walks a day. We introduced him to our kittens when he was young and were extremely carefully and they are fine now but if you don’t have time to manage this and supervise 24/7 for months you won’t be able to have small furries with them at all. If they have wirey coat (like ours) they need hand stripping a few times a year which costs more than normal grooming (can be clipped but not as good for their coat). Ours likes his own space and not to be constantly faffed. They are lovely funny dogs full of personality and so so funny and loving πŸ₯° if you are experienced and want an active dog they are absolutely amazing.Join some fb groups to research, but if you want a dog who can skip walks, who doesn’t need much attention training or work then don’t get a patterdale. See loads of people on the fb groups give them up as they were more than they bargained for… as someone who adores this breed please research first πŸ₯°

Good advice cxx

Good luck in finding your new homes little onesβ€οΈπŸ™

Definitely research

Aww bless , I've just adopted a 8 month's Patterdale boy and I've experience with Terrier's , Had English bull Terriers for 26 years and yes totally agree, if you don't have experience please don't even apply!, I turned down many of potential families for my babies and told them to get a goldfish instead because there was no way in hell they was getting one of my babies if they hadn't had previous experience xx good luck little babies in finding your forever family πŸ’™β€

Aw they are so gorgeous what a wonderful job mummy is doing ❀

Well done Betty you're a Star 🌟 girl you've made a fabulous job of bringing up your gorgeous babies XX

Well done Betty, your pups are coming along so well ❀️

Gorgeous and well done Betty xx

What a good mummy

I love the one tunneling under Betty's back leg 🀣 (that has to be a boy!) and the one nearest her face, pummelling her as if to say 'is this broken? I'm only getting a trickle out of it. C'mon mum, give it up! ' - another boyπŸ€”?! Great job Betty. My gran was called Betty. Ace name for a strong woman ❀️ xx

Don't they need a bigger cage? .... They don't seem to have much room πŸ€”

Whilst the puppies are adorable I absolutely love Betty xxx β€πŸ•β€

There is nothing more magical than a bitch with her pups. I remember staying up all night with Bess, a beautiful black Labrador. Her pups were born early morning. She let me pick one up, but she watched me like a hawk. When I handed it back, she washed it from head to foot. There's nothing more beautiful.

So gorgeous. The one nearest mum's head is really going for it. Must be a boy πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

What a great mother you are Betty, the puppies are so big for 3 weeks old 😍 β€οΈπŸ’™

They're not so little now πŸ˜‚. Well done Betty πŸ’•

They are little chunks too! Betty must be doing a grand job bless her πŸ’•

Aaaw good girl Betty...she looks absolutely beautiful and in super condition ❀️🐾🐾...the little chunks will be as big as Betty soon ❀️❀️❀️❀️ xx
